II. Design and Develop Digital age Learning Experiences and Assessments.

Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize

content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes â€‹
  • Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity

  • Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress

  • Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources

  • Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards, and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching

Artifacts:  This standard's focus is diversity.  The purposeful design, development, and personalization of technology to encompass all students learning styles in instruction then use assessments to gather data in order to determine what is working well, or where to make adjustments.

Reflection:  The first project I selected to demonstrate this standard is the EdPuzzle.  EdPuzzle is a combination of a video with the ability for the teacher to insert question prompts.  The selected video is directly related to a CCRS reading standard, and the questions are excellent formative assessments that help not only direct instruction, but allow the students to assess their own progress.

The second project is a movie that I created as a hook for a unit on Alabama's role in the 1960's Space Race.  I selected this based on the subcategory adapting relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning.

The final project  I submit to you is a podcast.  Using this digital tool to engage students whose preferred learning style is auditory to include and engage them in instruction.  The podcast can be implemented as homework so the student is prepared for the next day's discussion and independent work.

Future Learning Goals

I just learned that my school is planning a 1:1 student to technology environment.  I look forward to using the digital tools and resources to improve student learning.  I look forward to the opportunity to personalize instruction and promote individual learning.  I also look forward to applying the continuing development of online tools to ascertain student's relative position against the national standards and using digital tools to close the learning gaps.   Finally, I  look to use my education to design and develop relevant learning experiences to promote student creativity and  learning.
