Reflection:  I selected for my first artifact the research paper I wrote titled Misconceptions Regarding Academic Dishonesty in Distance Learning.  I had to first learn what was considered dishonesty in regards to distance learning.  This research provided me with the opportunity to delve into copyright and intellectual property issues along with how to appropriately cite sources.

I included a website I created for IT 755.  I have selected to highlight the reference page for this website.  I researched and added my reference links for copyright law and copyright in regards to online learning.  This website was also developed to address the diverse needs of learners and provides access to resources.

The final selection I present is my blogfolio for IT 648.  I included this due to the collaborative component that engaged  fellow classmates including those of other cultures by commenting on group members  projects and reflections using weebly, a  current digital age and collaborative communication tool.  I will incorporate this platform and process in my reading classroom.

Artifacts:  .Standard four is all about ethics and responsibility related to digital citizenship.  The instruction received at USM has taught me that it is not enough to just know what it right and wrong in the digital realm, but that  I need to promote, advocate model, address, and teach ethical use of digital information.  This includes not only copyright issues but etiquette when online.  Finally, USM had a wonderful multicultural environment allowing me the opportunity to engage with students all around the world.

Future Learning Goals

It is extremely important to me as an educator to teach and model proper interaction whether physically or digitally communicating.  I am working on a lesson that provides explicit instruction along with examples of appropriate choices.  One of my CCRS standards is citing textual evidence, therefore this standard guides me in teaching my students.  Finally, I plan to use google meet to connect my class with a Danish author and teacher.  He wrote the book that inspired the movie Secrets of War.  I am looking forward to seeing how my students respond and interact.
